Children's literature is designed to promote the moral, intellectual and aesthetic development of children. Books play a key role in the formation of a linguistic personality, they fill the mind and imagination of a child, revealing new worlds, images and patterns of behavior.

Children's literature is a powerful tool for the spiritual progress of every child. The primary introduction of the young reader to the world of books is carried out thanks to literature specially created for children.

Children's literature began its development in the 19th century, with the advent of the 30s. One of the first authors to create works specifically for children was a writer under the pseudonym Anthony Pogorelsky, the author of the famous book The Black Hen. Until that time, literature that is now considered children's (tales by Charles Perrault, the Brothers Grimm, etc.) was created as literature for adults.

Modern children's literature is gradually changing and undergoing significant changes. It stopped being just entertaining and educational, and became accompanying and auxiliary for the child. It is worth noting that the task of such modern texts is not only to tell and explain the difference between good and evil, but also to help a child cope with difficult situations that he may encounter in life.

Modern children's literature faces a number of urgent problems. Firstly, as an art form, it is in critical condition, as the number of authors interested in working in this field is decreasing every year. The circulation of publications for kids is decreasing, and the demand for publishing houses' products is decreasing. This is largely due to the development of information technology, which leads to the rapid maturation of children.

Secondly, children's literature faces a number of problems, including its insufficient demand. This problem affects almost all levels - young authors have difficulty publishing their works, publishers suffer from low sales and financial losses. There is also a problem with the cost of children's publications. Printing is one of the most expensive industries, but at the same time it provides great opportunities. Thus, the cost of children's books increases so much that not all parents can afford to purchase such publications often. Modern books have become bright, colorful and attractive to children, but this has led to an increase in their cost and a reduction in circulation.

Thus, at the present stage, we have discovered serious problems in the structure and functioning of children's literature. These difficulties require careful analysis and immediate resolution, as the future of our children, their involvement in the world of books and the formation of the spiritual, psychological, moral and ethical components of life depend on it.

Ignoring the current state of children's literature means depriving children of a significant part of their existence, contributing to the appearance of vulgarity, the spread of indifference and detachment.
