The newspaper-journalistic style in the modern Arabic is a complex phenomenon that combines features of different functional styles where the crucial aspects are conveying information and impacting the audience. These features are reflected in the text structuring, using expressive, evaluative, and figurative means as well as in selecting linguistic tools to achieve the desired communicative result. Such texts do not merely show the reality but also interpret it that help shape the reader’s perception and form a specific attitude towards the events and processes being covered.

The study of the stylistic features of newspaper-journalistic texts in Arabic is of particular significance thanks to the rapid development of the Arabic media. Modern Arab journalistic discourse can be characterized by dynamism as a variety of expressive linguistic means and the literary norm is organically combined with new linguistic phenomena and innovations. Analyzing these trends in linguistics makes it possible to reveal the mechanisms of the modern Arabic literary language functioning in more details, as well as to identify the key vectors of its further development.

Of great interest is the fact that in the Arab world the terms «sahafi» and «e’lami» are used to denote the word «journalist» [1], where sahafi is associated with journalists working in print media, whereas e’lami is used for those journalists who are involved in broadcasting.

Historically, the word «sahafi», which can be traced to the word «sahifa» (message) in the Quran and Hadith, means a messenger who conveys the content found in newspapers and publications [2]. Traditionally, a sahafi is a skilled and talented journalist whose task is to guide opinion of the public.

At the present time, the word «e’lami» describes journalists who also work in various media sectors: print, audio and visual formats and in general the term means media workers. It is often used interchangeably with sahafi by media workers. This fact can be explained by the development of the pan-Arab satellite news channels and by journalists moving between print media companies and newly established satellite channels, and vice versa.

The great examples of the pan-Arab satellite news channels are “Al Jazeera” and “Al Arabiya”, whose journalists think of themselves as roadcasters or e’lamis and set the goals of challenging their audience and changing circumstances in the region.

In-depth analysis of Arabic journalistic texts is becoming increasingly in demand because they are the key channels of receiving information about current social processes in Arab countries.

The composition of texts in Arabic journalism is shaped by two factors: by the universal principles of journalistic discourse and by the Arabic speech and language and culture development. Unique feature of Arabic newspapers is a clear, fairly regulated structure but the texts do not lose their vivid expressiveness and can be emotionally rich.

Arabic journalistic texts present the material in stages and often focus on a detailed exploration of the topic: the argumentation is built sequentially, and the content is gradually supplemented with new details. The research shows that the key element in constructing a journalistic text is its thematic and rhetorical structure. The relationship between the theme and the rheme makes it possible to structure the presentation of information in stages, ensure the semantic integrity of the material, and achieve its communicative goals.

In modern publications of newspapers and magazines, a clear sequence of compositional blocks is usually evident: headline, subheading, lead, main part, and conclusion. All these elements have their own communicative role and together help the author achieve the intended semantic and pragmatic effect.

Traditionally, in the main part of the text, the authors use various techniques for structuring the material – for example, they build chains of cause‑and‑effect relationships, present events in chronological order, compare individual facts, present arguments, provide descriptions, and include their own comments.

The analysis conducted indicates that the structure of an Arabic journalistic text is inextricably linked to its ability to influence the reader. Each structural component is designed to make communication as effective as possible and to shape the audience’s desired attitude towards the events under discussion. Paratextual elements – headings, quotes, illustrations, as well as techniques for graphically emphasizing information – are important tools in achieving this goal.

Thus, an Arabic journalistic text is based on thematic and rhetorical structure, compositional structure. They are responsible for preserving semantic integrity, maintaining logical coherence, and ensuring a communicative effect.

To conclude, Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) is a new linguistic phenomenon driven by mass media where “the language of the Arabic press has become more than just a means of transmitting information; it has evolved into a powerful linguo-pragmatic mechanism that shapes political ideology, cultural codes, and social consciousness” [3].
