DIGITAL SOCIETY: FUTURE PROFESSIONS

ABSTRACT

The progressive development of Digital technologies opens up huge opportunities for creating new and modernizing existing sectors of life, increasing the high-tech level of interaction between society and the individual. This leads to the emergence of new professions at the intersection of IT and other areas and motivates current professionals to integrate IT into their work today.

In the near future, we can predict serious changes on the industry map of the economy. Like any breakthrough digital technology is not tied to one industry, their application can be as broad and end-to-end as possible, unifying. This means that the digital transformation in the economy should be considered not in the narrow framework of a single industry, but in the context of global processes.

It is inevitable that changes in the economy and in the way of life in the process of transition to a digital society will lead to the creation of new jobs and new professions. The motto of this time is a continuous development and self-improvement in attempts to adapt to the new environment. This adaptation also affects existing professions, which get higher requirements.

Who creates the city of the future?

An IT specialist develops technologies that can independently receive and transmit information necessary for their functioning, monitor, reconfigure and optimize their own work.

The world's largest cities are rapidly "getting smarter". In new York city, the street security system automatically recognizes the sound of gunshots and determines the location where the shooting occurred. The city also has a system that predicts the likelihood of fires in buildings. In Moscow, an intelligent system of traffic control reports of traffic jams on roads and regulates the download of the tracks. In Barcelona, "smart" garbage containers inform the utility when they are filled. The designers of an intelligent environment create system solutions for cities. They will combine various networks, devices and sensors with the physical place of human habitation — home, street, transport, place of work.

This profession (which combines a cluster of narrow specialties) will require deep knowledge in IT, big data processing, Internet of things and hardware. The "smart environment" in the future also implies the integration of composite materials and sensors, and the specialist will still have to understand chemistry, materials science, and nanotechnology. In addition, the designer of a smart environment must have a very developed system thinking — like an architect who conceived the construction of an entire city from scratch. Therefore, such a specialist needs to have a good understanding of sociology and modern urbanism. Of course, this is one of the most difficult professions of the future, but also one of the most interesting and noble.

At the intersection of professions: IT sector in medicine. Doctors and Geneticists.

The reason for the emergence of IT medicine is modern health challenges: population growth, still limited access to quality medical care in developing countries, increased life expectancy and, as a result, the frequency of chronic diseases.

The synthesis of medicine and technology is particularly important for solving problems in the areas where morbidity and mortality rates are highest – such as cardiology and Oncology.

 IT-doctors work with big data, analyze and systematize medical information. They create software for medical and diagnostic equipment.

Ideally, an IT-medic is a versatile person who is equally fluent in computer science and medicine. Technological expertise helps him create new software products for healthcare. He needs to be a good doctor in order to understand the needs of the field and make the right conclusions based on data analysis. Very soon, genomic information will surpass the entire Internet in volume. Each single set of chromosomes contains more than 3 billion special letters of the genome.

It is believed that by 2025, its volume will reach 40 million terabytes. However, this information is confidential and requires organized but limited access. There will be many problems and tasks, and all of them are solved by IT-geneticists.

What can we expect?

Digitalization has begun to dictate new principles in all areas of our life, from the banking system to healthcare. Society itself was no exception. In the future, most professionals will require deep knowledge in completely different, sometimes unrelated areas. This means that it will be easier to" migrate " from one specialty to another. The main thing you need to prepare for is constant self-education, especially in the field of IT, since there is no guarantee that person of the future will work within the same profession during an all his life. Changes in the labor market require a willingness to change the vector, constantly acquire new knowledge and seek better use of it.
